DOND bingo player risked it all with the Banker's gamble

Noel wanted a player who was brave enough to spot their opportunity; he didn’t want to have fantastic boxes but a fearful player.

Bel had an appointment with wealth! The hospital reception supervisor took the Walk of Wealth. Noel greeted Bel and also husband Nigel who was amongst the Pilgrims and explained that Bel’s dad dragged Nigel out of a park by his ears after pestering Bel when he was aged just 17. It proved to be the real thing and they will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary in March.  Bel brought a homemade red box to the table with the number eight on the front.  Inside the box was a photograph of her three sons and her granddad’s bible, which she hopes will bring good luck.  Noel discovered that Bel also had a system based on her family.

Bel began with numbers associated with her youngest son. The effect was finding £10, £250,000 and £100. Mo had the big one for a third time and Noel said he was going into an elite group of players. £5,000 and 50p concluded the opening round. The Banker knew it would have been a fabulous start if she hadn’t picked Mo.  So despite the loss of the big one, the offer was £7,000. Bel didn’t want to be the first person to deal at the first offer – No Deal. Another low round consisted of £3,000, £1,000 and 10p. The Banker was finding it hard to concentrate because of Bel’s “sexy” voice. He spoke to her personally and Bel hit the right notes on the phone, the Banker told her that her board was solid so the offer was £12,500. Bel knew it was a good offer but under the circumstances decided to – No Deal. Dawn revealed £500 in round three when Bel had a tough decision to make. She had planned to pick box eight but was having second thoughts, after a long think Bel decided to go ahead and £5 was found. “What a lot of fuss over five quid” said Noel. Mark completed the all-blue round with £750. The Banker offered £17,000, Bel confessed she had never had that much money and started to look at her remaining numbers. She also admitted there was an amount still on the board which would solve all her problems. Noel mentioned Bel’s nickname was ‘Miss Doom and Gloom’ but she hoped to loose that title – No Deal.

An expensive fourth round followed. £100,000 was the top of the game; £15,000 and £35,000 were also big hits. “What a rotten round” bemoaned Noel. The Banker pointed out that the game had gone his way and he let Bel know that he could drop down to £2,000. That made the decision to offer £9,000 even more surprising.  Bel knew this was her once chance so she decided to – No Deal. The fifth round started with £50,000 which made the board even more precarious.  Noel reiterated that the next two boxes had to be blue. £20,000 and £250 concluded the round. Noel said ‘Miss Doom and Gloom’ should have predicted that. The Banker said Bel’s board was similar to H’s but he didn’t want her to make the same mistake and offered £6,500. Nigel came down because Noel wanted them to make a joint decision – Deal. Bel would have left box three till the end, £50, £1 and £10,000 completed the final round and left 1p and £75,000 on the board. The Banker was so confident that the 1p was in box 10 he offered the Banker’s Gamble. Bel didn’t mind the thought of winning 1p because she said there was a chance of being invited back for special shows. The Banker rang to say that there was no chance of her being invited back.  Noel asked the question – Deal. Bel gave back the £6,500 for a 50/50 chance to win her target amount £75,000. The tension was unbearable, after declining the swap, Noel flipped open box 10 to see 1p and confirmed Bel is the 29th member of the 1p club.
